Page Types

Namespaces - The wiki contains a couple different types of pages which mostly are focused in grouping types of pages for advanced search and maintenance. Don't worry, if you create a page in the wrong namespace the "move" page option allows you to move the page to the intended namespace. Mediawiki which this site is built upon has a collection of default namespaces and special namespaces found on the Mediawiki namespace page. The following are the types of namespaces unique to KNEXT. Generally the way namespaces appear are with the namespace title followed by a colon. If a namespace is not used the article will be created in the Main namespace.

Content Pages:

  • Main - Example: Main_Page - Organizational pages that are important for building the structure of the information on the wiki. This is the default page type when no namespace is applied.
  • Questions - Example: How do I calculate startup cost? - Question pages are aimed at focusing on How, Where, and When questions with the body of the pages linking to resources with notes of how best to use the resource, suggesting follow-up or narrowing questions, and other information that may be useful to answer similar questions. More on this topic can be found in the training manual.
  • Resources - Example: Resource:Business Support Organizations - The resources namespace is where a resource can be expanded to add additional detail and allows for tools to identify the resources for different types of processing and advanced search of just resources. More on this topic can be found in the training manual.
  • Help - Example: Help:Training Manual - Documentation and guides of how to use KNEXT will appear here.
  • User - Example: User:Wolfgang8741 - A user's workspace, items created here can be seen by anyone, but are not indexed by the site search.
  • Template - Example: Template:Itinerary - Templates are reusable structures which can be used on more than one page sharing the common fields and allowing for validation of the field content.
  • Talk - Example: Resource_talk:Business Support Organizations - The talk namespace are pages that complement the other content pages where discussions can occur about the associated page. Note the associated namespace is included in the talk namespace with the format namespace_talk.
